The clip highlights the band’s current single ‘Too Many People’ who’s lyrics appear to reference the over stimulation of social media. But bandleader Brian Molko clarifies in the clip:
“The album does touch on certain timely subjects…like addiction for example or social media – but for me I’m kind of writing about people rather than those things themselves. I think essentially what I’m writing about is relationships and the way that people relate to each other.”
This is the second trailer the band has released to plug ‘Loud Like Love.’ The first was put out in June and featured snippets of the title track. Click here to watch.
One thing’s for sure, ‘Too Many Friends’ is catchy as hell, and has lodged into my brain after only two listens. It hits that sweet melancholy feel that the band does so well, and has given them such a devoted fan base. It also has an intriguingly vague and funny new video narrated by American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis. Check it out:
The video appears to continue the skewering of online culture with Ellis giving out random cues to help viewers solve an interactive mystery. But there’s no resolve, with it ending as Ellis says viewers have 30 seconds to guess the answer in the comments section.
