Tidalwave Debut New Video For ‘Find Myself’
Charlotte, NC band Tidalwave will be releasing their first music video on January 11th, 2015. It’ll be for their single ‘Find Myself’ and you can see a preview below:
The video release will coincide with a reissue and remix of the band’s self-tiled debut EP . Vocalist/guitarist Dean Tidalwave discussed the video and what’s in store for the re-release:
We recently got approached by a dance music producer from Detroit who offered to remix a couple of songs on the EP. One of those remixes turned out pretty good, and since our music video was finally ready, we thought it would be a good idea to re-release the EP with the inclusion of a remix to coincide with the release of the video, so we could finally give it the promotion it deserved in the first place.
Regarding the EP, I think it really reflects where I am in terms of song writing. Being a 2 piece limits us, and forces me to approach the writing differently than in the past, so the songs have to be punchy and draw you in right from the start, there is no space for fancy solos, so the songs have to be compact and dynamic, but without losing the melodic element. Doing everything with only 2 of us is a challenge but also gives me a lot of freedom, and that’s very exciting.
I really wanted to continue the same approach…when filming the video, so I decided to direct and edit it myself…I really wanted to prove myself that I could do a decent job, without having to pay someone and have the same video as another 1000 bands out there.
Tidalwave are a two-piece but don’t lump them in with the trendy bluesy duos that have followed in the White Stripes’ wake: there is a decidedly 90’s style sound on display which draws from that era’s bands such as Local H, Deftones, Pearl Jam and Placebo. Their tight in the pocket rhythms and anthemic choruses have an instant appeal for fans of heavy alternative rock, so fans of that sub genre so certainly give their EP a listen.
