The Cure Confirmed To Headline 2013 ACL Fest

Well news of Austin’s ACL Fest Lineup just took a turn for the gloriously gloomy. Alternative Rock Icons The Cure are scheduled to headline both weekends of the 2013 festival.

The band was rumored to headline when an anagram of their name was featured on the festivals webpage last week (as  ERH TCUE). There slot was confirmed shortly afterwards.

This marks a busy year for the goth icons, as they’re also set to play at Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival in August alongside New Order, Nine Inch Nails and Queens of The Stone Age,

Joining them will be fellow brit rockers Muse (who leaked their appearance last week), always a good festival draw, and who previously rocked the festival back in 2010. In addition the venerable noise-rock trio that is The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion will be appearing.

Past that, is a bunch of bands that I’ve either never heard of, or are not too enthused about, such as Toro y Moi, the Joy Formidable, Portugal. The Man and Shuggie Otis.

More info on the lineup can be found on the Austin City Limits festival website by clicking here. And you can keep up to date on all things The Cure via their facebook page. After announcing their appearance their, they mentioned there’s still “more to come” so hopefully that entails a full U.S. tour.

The festival will run on the consecutive weekends of Oct 4th through 6th and 11th through 13. Tickets will go on sale May 7th at 10am.
