The Church Release New Single ‘Undersea,’ Announce Album Release Date: group will release their 26th studio album next month–North American tour starts this Friday.
Australian alt-psych legends The Church kick off their North American tour today, and they have another treat in store for fans: their new album Man Woman Life Death Infinity will be released October 6th.
And to whet fan’s appetites for the new material, the group have released a new single, the swirling, soothing, Undersea, which you can listen to via Spotify below.
Undersea is the second track the group have released for the new album, the first being Another Century, which debuted in June. Click here to listen.
Frontman/bassist Steve Kilbey gave his thoughts on the new album in a recent press release, noting “This is the Church’s water record,” says Kilbey, singer, lyricist and bassist. “I guess water is my element. I’ve always marveled at the sea and rivers and rain. It wasn’t conscious at all but on reflection, it definitely is a preoccupation on this record. What that means, I don’t know.”

Man Woman Life Death Infinity features the same lineup as The Church’s 2014 release Further/Deeper with guitarist Ian Haug replacing longtime member Marty Willson-Piper. Haug discussed the interplay on the new album with veteran guitarist Peter Koppes, saying “Peter is like the mad professor of guitar theory. I’ve learned a lot from him over the last few years but I’m not trying to analyze the harmonic integrity of anything. If it sounds good, I’ll keep going down that path. I think we complement each other really well in that way.”
The album’s full track listing (and North American tour dates) are listed below, followed by an Amazon link to pre-order. Stay tuned later this month for my review of their Austin show.
