Watch ‘Pulp: A Film About Life Death And Supermarkets’ Trailer: documentary recounts band’s final 2012 performance in their hometown of Sheffield, England.
American fans of Brit-pop kings Pulp take notice: the band’s documentary ‘Pulp: A Film About Life Death And Supermarkets Trailer’ is being screened at a handful of U.S. cities starting this month and running through November.
Watch it below:
The documentary made its début at this year’s SXSW, where frontman/witty lyricist Jarvis Cocker was also a keynote speaker.
Cocker was on hand to attend the documentary’s screening in New York this Wednesday. He also judged a Pulp-themed karaoke party afterwards. Cocker noted of one drunken performer who fell of the stage: “I have fallen off the stage many times. The first concert Pulp ever did, the bass player fell off the stage. So you’re keeping a tradition alive. You have the moves. Now I can retire.”
The documentary recounts the band’s final show in 2012. That happened to be in their hometown of Sheffield, England. The film (shot in one day) recounts the band’s relationship to the city, and how the townspeople view the band.
The film’s director Florian Habicht shot the film with quirky locals such as a local swimmer who makes PULP underwear because “likes Jarvis on my bum.”
The film will have an extended theatrical release in November through Oscilloscope. Showtimes are listed below. Dates for on-demand and Blu-ray have yet to be announced.
