Nine Inch Nails Announce New Album

When Trent Reznor announced earlier this year that he was resurrecting Nine Inch Nails for a series of shows, fans were also hoping new music would follow. And now there’s confirmation from Reznor himself that new material is on the way.

**UPDATED: Click here for my Hesitation Marks review.

The news came via the band’s Tumbler page:

“I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately. For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly … great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”

The new album will be distributed by Columbia Records, which seems to have become a haven for veteran electronic acts. No word on a proper release date yet.

There have been a few change ups in the band’s lineup lately as well. Returning to the fold is veteran guitarist Robin Finck, after a brief dalliance with Guns’N’Roses. Sadly, former Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery has left the band. I was curious to see what he would have brought to the table.

This continues a busy year for Reznor, who’s also recently released his new album with How To Destroy Angels, the band he performs in with Ross and his wife Mariqueen Maandig, and performed on both the Sound City Player’s “Real To Reel” and the upcoming Queens of The Stone Age album “Like Clockwork.

Reznor also leaked a copy of his “Broken” movie on Tumbler a few weeks back, and it’s now available via Bloody Disgusting. This very NSFW movie was never officially released due to it’s graphic content, so you’ve been warned.
