New Order Plan Fall North American Tour

New Order Plan Fall North American Tour

//-->

Just discovered via Slicing Up Eyeballs that New Order will be doing their first (albeit brief) North American Tour in 7 years.

This is indeed exciting news, but it’s a little bittersweet given that founding member and bassist extraordinaire Peter Hook won’t be in tow as he quit the band back in 2007. He’ll be replaced by Tom Chapman (formerly of New Order side project Bad Lieutenant).

Awhile back Hook , announced he wasn’t too happy about the band touring without him. Maybe someday they’ll mend fences.

Regardless I’m looking forward to it, given I’ve never had a chance to check them out live before which is crazy given they’re one of my favorite bands. Timing just never worked out right for whatever reason. So I guess I’ll be making the trek up to Dallas.

Frontman/guitarist Bernard Sumner has also hinted the band is working on new material, but no word on if any will be played live. The tour will kick off on October 5th and wrap up on the 23rd. Maybe we’ll luck out and they’ll do extended tour dates afterwards.

I can’t wait to dance around with a bunch of aging new wavers to “Temptation” and “Bizarre Love Triangle“!  Yes, I am one of those old farts, I “Regret” to say :-/  (sorry I couldn’t resist). Plus we’ll get to here some awesome songs we played at our wedding, so the wife will be happy.
