Trent Reznor has teased new Nine Inch Nails material for 2016, but many believed the year would end before any new material would hit. Wrong. Reznor, along with collaborator Atticus Ross (now a full-time member) will release a new five-track EP, titled Not the Actual Events, which will be out just in time for Christmas on December 23rd.
Reznor described the new EP as a tonal change from 2013’s Hesitation Marks, as well as his most recent film scoring work on the Leonardo DiCaprio documentary Before The Flood. In a press release he described the new material: “It’s an unfriendly, fairly impenetrable record that we needed to make. It’s an EP because that ended up being the proper length to tell that story.”
But wait, there’s more! Reznor also announced that a box set of his 1999 opus The Fragile was also in the works. The Fragile: Deviations 1, will be a four-disc set with a remaster of the double album along with 37 never before released songs. This is apparently the first in a series of deluxe editions of the band’s back catalogue.
