New Faith No More Album title and release date officially announced.
Faith No More have announced the official name and release date of their first new album in 18 years.
Entitled Sol Invictus, the 10 track album is due for release on May 19th, on the band’s own Reclamation Records. Frontman Mike Patton’s Ipecac label will handle distribution.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the band revealed that the recordings took place in Oakland, California at the “Estudios Koolarrow” and Vulcan Studios. Bassist Billy Gould produced the record, with some assistance from Matt Wallace, who produced the band’s revered albums The Real Thing and Angel Dust.

Citing influences like Siouxsie and The Banshees and Roxy Music, keyboardist Roddy Boddum says: Hypnotic and gothic, we’re coming back to where we were with our first album…Patton’s being Patton, crooning, screaming, with a bit of soul underneath it all. We’ve always taken strange influences and smashed them together.
Gothic has never been a term I’d personally use to describe FNM’s music. And this comes from someone who loves Goth and FNM equally. So I’m pretty excited to see what the full album will sound like.
Following on the heels of last year’s single Mother****er, the band will release follow-up single Superhero next month on vinyl (March 17) and MP3 (March 31).
The band are about to set off on their first proper North American tour since the 90’s. And after complaints of ticket scalpers buying up seats for upcoming shows, the group has implemented measures at their upcoming L.A. show to help cut down on the practice, saying: Hey Los Angeles! We’re adding one more show, April 22, at The Wiltern Tix go on sale Friday. We are enforcing a stricter tix limit for this LA show. 2 tix limit, Pit & Loge will be paperless. We’re trying!!
