Lollapalooza 2014 Lineup Announced…and it kinda sucks
The official 2014 Lollapalooza lineup has been announced…and it’s probably the worst lineup in the festival’s history.
Headliners include Eminem, Kings Of Leon, Skrillex, Outkast and Arctic Monkeys.
Outkast..cool, esp. since they’re reforming. That I get. Arctic Monkeys are mainly cool because they’re heavily influenced by Queens Of The Stone Age. But they’re not anywhere near as cool as QOTSA. Skrillex is great if you like dub-step (not me), but not exactly headliner material. And Kings Of Leon and Eminem?
For a festival founded on alternative culture, that’s a bummer. Adding to the fact that four of the above mentioned have already played in previous years (also sad), it just reeks of uninspired tepid taste.
As you scroll down the list it doesn’t get much better. Does anybody really get into Interpol or AFI anymore? Aren’t Foster The People past their sell-by date? Portugal The Man…ick.
Now there are a few bright spots; CHVRCHES and Lorde are the trendy favorites right now, but they’re good trendy favorites. Temples are a fun 60’s throwback, but nothing more. There’s Phantogram which is the band that every fest is shoving down our throats this year. They’re okay.
But as far as any real boisterous rock is concerned, this lineup SUCKS.
Anyways here’s the full lineup (thanks to Chicago tribune). I’m sure plenty will disagree with my assessment, but I think 90% of it sucks balls. Comment on your take below:
