Well the wait is over! The official 2013 Lollapalooza lineup has been announced and it’s making me itch to head back to Chicago.
The announcement came earlier than expected due to a leak, but it appears this has been confirmed as the real deal.
Headliners include New Order (read my recent album review), the newly reformed Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Queens Of The Stone Age, Phoenix, and The Killers.
Other artists of note that caught my attention are Hot Chip, Baroness, Thievery Corporation and Wavves.
But wait, there’s more! Here’s some of the other headliners, which I’m slightly less enthused about:
Mumford and Sons, Vampire Weekend, The Postal Service, The National, The Lumineers, Kendrick Lamar, and Major Lazer.
And here’s even more acts you can check out on the other stages:
Crystal Castles, Beach House, Cat Power, Alt-J, Grizzly Bear, Band of Horses, Hot Chip, Tegan & Sara, Haim, Matt & Kim, Jessie Ware, Foals, Ghost B.C., The Vaccines, Frightened Rabbit, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Wild Belle, Reignwolf, DIIV, Wild Nothing,SKATERS, The Orwells, St. Lucia, Deap Valley.
But that’s not all— a few more that’ll be appearing include: Flux Pavilion, Two Door Cinema Club, 2 Chainz, Icona Pop, Modestep, Ben Howard, Emile Sande, Heartless Bastards, Charles Bradley, Atlas Genius, Jake Bugg, Theophilus London, Kill the Noise, Guards, The Bright Light Social Hour, etc, etc.
You can check out more artists that’ll appear (on a very blurry poster) via Paste.com as well as Consequence of Sound.
There’s certainly enough here to capture my interests, and may just push this festival to the top of the heap against Bonnaroo and Coachella (click here for the 2013 Bonnaroo lineup and click here for this years Coachella’s lineup.)
So what’re your thoughts on the lineup? Excited? Meh? Chime in below.
Thievery is great live and I saw The Cure a few years ago not expecting them to be that great as an aging band, but I was nicely surprised! It sounds like you’ll get your money’s worth on the ticket. Is Chicago the only show? I thought this used to be a tour???
Yeah, they just do Chicago now :-(. I wish they’d tour it here. I’ve seen The Cure twice and they always deliver, and play for forever! That would be the only downside coz they’d have to shorten their set.
