Kickstarter Campaign Launched for Bruce Haack Festival: Crowdfunded campaign commences for Haackfest: an audiovisual festival to honor forgotten hero of electronic music.
UPDATED: This Kickstarter campaign has been cancelled.
Bruce Haack may not be a household name, but he’s a cult figure for electronic music aficionados. Haack was creating experimental electronic music as far back as the early 60’s, making him truly ahead of his time.
Director Phillip Anagnos chronicled Haack’s work with in his 2004 documentary ‘Haack: The King of Techno.’ And now the filmmaker has created a kickstarter campaign for Haackfest, a music festival honoring the late musician’s legacy.
If the campaign is successful, the event is set to take place on Oct 4, 2014 at the The Theatre@ACE Hotel in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by electronic music figurehead Moby.
Also scheduled to perform is DJ Lance Rock, host of the quirky popular kids show ‘Yo Gabba Gabba’.
Other DJ’s are TBD, but the festival will also include a screening of the documentary, as well as Haack’s appearances on ‘Mr. Rogers Neighborhood‘.
The Festival’s Kickstarter webpage elaborates on the festival’s goals: HAACKFEST’s objective is to breath new life, rich in quality and prestige, into the current state of the electronic music scene by introducing Bruce Haack’s timeless music and iconic vision to audiences abound.
We can’t give away all our secrets, but CAN tell you we are lining up a few of the worlds top DJ’s, LA’s cream of the crop local jocks and some very social guests from Bruce Haack’s past.
This premier event in downtown LA is just a precursor launch for what we’re preparing to scale up and expand annually into NY, London and Japan.
While the event is sponsored by the L.A. Weekly, the festival still needs to accuse $33,000 before September to meet its campaign goal.
