Faith No More have just given fans a very happy hump day: the band have just released Mother****er, the first single from their upcoming 2015 album (on singer Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings, and the band’s recent imprint Reclamation Records)which was first available to stream via Rolling Stone.
But now you can also listen to it below:
A 7-inch single limited to 5000 copies, will be released on Record Store Day Black Friday/November 28th, and will be paired with a B-side featuring a remix from industrial artist J.G. Thirwell aka Foetus.
Keyboardist Roddy Bottum told Rolling Stone: “It feels apt that the first track we’re releasing is ‘Mother****er,’ a song about accountability. Basically we’ve created, recorded and mixed a new body of work by ourselves and we’re releasing it on our own label. It’s a huge deal for us to only have ourselves to answer to at this point in our career and the song is about that, where the buck stops via the basic imagery of foie gras production, bondage. . .y’know, stuff like that.”
On first listen the track crystallizes all the elements that have made the group so beloved to rabid fan base: Patton’s croon/shriek vocals, anthemic guitars, cinematic keyboards/piano and a earth-shaking rhythm section.
The band’s eighth studio album is due for release in April, 2015. Exact release date and album title TBD.
So give the new single a listen and tells us your thoughts? Are you stoked for new FNM songs? Personally, I am majorly geeking out.
