Episode 6: Tyson Todd Meade Talks Congressional Campaign and New Solo Album-SLIS Podcast: Chainsaw Kittens vocalist discusses his new political campaign, along with his new album Robbing The Nuclear Family.

This week’s guest on the SLIS Podcast is Tyson Todd Meade, the frontman for underrated alternative rockers Chainsaw Kittens.

While they were never a household name, Meade’s unique hybrid of alt rock, punk, 70’s glam and power pop was hugely influential on iconic 90s artists like Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana.

Meade, who now works as a solo artist, shocked fans recently when he announced he was running for U.S. Congress, to represent the 5th district of his home state of Oklahoma.

We discuss why he decided to jump into the political arena, what the reaction has been so far, fundraising efforts, and what are the defining points of his political platform.

In addition, we talk about his new album Robbing The Nuclear Family, which was released via Jett Plastic Recordings for Record Store Day, as well as the recent Chainsaw Kittens reunion performance, the loss of band drummer Eric Harmon, and more.
