Episode 50: The 17 Best Horror Movies of All Time-SLIS Podcast

For our latest podcast episode, we rank the 17 most iconic horror films of all time, including entries from John Carpenter, Alfred Hitchcock, Ti West and more.

We’re halfway through October, and you know what that means: it’s spooky season, and horror movie lovers everywhere are making and watching all their favorite horror movies, either on their streaming platform of choice, or digging out their dusty VHS tapes, or compiling their DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4K discs.

But if you’re new to horror, or are looking to learn more about the classics, as well as some underrated modern horror, Jack Sommersby and I have compiled a list of all our favorite scary films, from the most iconic to the slightly obscure.

We’ve picked something for everyone, so whether you’re a slasher fan, a body horror enthusiast, a demonic possession aficionado or a sci-fi/horror lover, we have a flick for you, from directors like John Carpenter, William Friedkin, Ridley Scott, Ti West, and more.

As always, these lists are extremely subjective: we’re going for our personal favorites, some of which you’ll agree, and others which you may contest! But that’s all part of the fun.

So take a listen via the embed above or the buttons below (we’re now on YouTube too!), check out our poll on Spotify and be sure to let us know any of your favorites that missed the list.
