The Cure Announce New Album 4:13 Scream

The Cure Announce New Album 4:13 Scream: 2014 Release Will Be Goth Group’s First Release In 6 Years.

With the recent announcement of  The Cure’s two sold out performances for The Teenage Cancer trust at the Royal Albert Hall, there’s been rumors of a long in-the-works new album.

Well good news Cure fans; the band officially confirmed today that they have an upcoming new release; entitled 4:14 Scream, it will be the band’s 16th studio album, and a follow-up to 2008’s 4:13 Dream.

CORRECTION: Album will be titled 4:14 Scream, not 4:13.

Interesting, given the long break between albums, is that the upcoming disc will be pulled from the same sessions as the previous album (hinted at in the title), but Robert Smith noted that this release will be darker in mood and texture (always a good sign).

In other exciting news, the band will soon be embarking on another Trilogy Tour. Back in 2002, their trilogy tour consisted of playing the Pornography, Disintegration, and Bloodflowers albums back-to-back.

The new tour will feature three other classic Cure releases; Faith, Three Imaginary Boys and Seventeen Seconds.

But wait, there’s more! The band also announced there will be upcoming series of DVD concert releases. Details are sparse, but the Trilogy shows sound like a no-brainer.

But Cure fanatics, be wary; Smith and co. are notorious for announcing new album plans that come to fruition much later, so don’t be surprised if this release gets pushed back to 2015. Either way this is good news, and I hope that this album is stronger than the last, which had its moments but was somewhat lackluster overall.
