Austin’s Pure Luck Announces Tour Dates: Southern Rock supergroup featuring members of Butthole Surfers, Melvins and Ween announce hometown dates.
Pure Luck, the Austin, TX musical collective fronted by Butthole Surfers/Melvins bassist Jeff Pinkus have just announced live dates in support of their recently released self-titled debut album.

The group, which also features Stephen Haas (Moistyboyz, Uncontrollable), Cody Richardson (Hickoids, Chief Fuzzer), Claude Coleman Jr. (Ween) and Stevage Sucharov (Brewtality Inc.) will be playing a host of summer dates in their hometown (including a four night residency at the Little Darlin’) as well as one-off stops in Houston and Fort Worth. The group will also perform at the International Beard Competition at Austin’s Long Center this September.
The band’s press release describes the group as “seven men got together to enjoy a nice day in the Texas Hill Country with a few sips. From outta nowhere, a band broke out… these gents named this project Pure Luck, maybe cause it was pure lucky to know how many folks would be showin’ up for practice.”
Having enjoyed the group’s album, I can only surmise their songs are going to go down great live–the band has a warm, lived-in sound that’s homey, but still keeps an edge befitting the group members punk and alt-rock roots.
