Afghan Whigs Announce New Album ‘Do To The Beast’: upcoming release will be the band’s first album in 16 years.
Ever since the Afghan Whigs got back together; fans have had one burning question; is there a new album on the horizon?
Over the weekend, Breaking Bad actor Bob Odenkirk tweeted a picture of himself and Whigs bandleader Greg Dulli, saying; The great Greg Dulli of whom I am a fan tells me new Afghan Whigs album coming soon. 1st in 16 years! Kickass.
Well today, this appears to be the case. The new album (oddly) entitled Do To The Beast, will be released April 15th, on SubPop records, which was their original home label. It’s the first album since 1969, which came out way back in 1998.

The group, had broken up in 2001, but officially reunited in 2012. They’ve had some intermittent output; they recorded two songs for a 2007 best-of album, and released a handful of covers in 2012 as well.
No other official details have been released, but expect their 2014 Coachella performance to showcase the new material.
Dulli has also been busy in the past year, recording with The Church’s Steve Kilbey, and performing with him for two sold-out shows in California, but no official release has been set for their collaboration either.

Rest assured, I’ll be reviewing both of these releases when available, and hopefully will catch the Afghan Whigs at a gig in the near future. They are a live act not to be missed.
