No sooner did I post that The Cure were confirmed as headliners for both weekends of the 2013 ACL Music festival did the announcement for the full lineup appear on the festival’s website and Facebook page.
This is a lineup that will make many alternative rock fans shit their pants. In addition to the Cure and Muse, Depeche Mode will headline the music fest (check out my review of their latest album), making their second trip to the TX capital in 2013 (the first being this year’s SXSW music festival).
But wait, there’s more. And I mean a lot more. Queens Of The Stone Age (click here to listen to their new song), Atoms For Peace, Silversun Pickups, Phoenix, Wilco, Grimes, The National, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and The Black Angels will also play.
Less exciting for me are the meh Fun., Kings Of Leon, Vampire Weekend, Grouplove and Portugal The Man.
And the wild card of the bill is Lionel Richie, whose smooth, velvety and campy cheesy soul pop should offer interesting counterpoint to the bill.
This bill shares many of the acts playing Lollapalooza in August, which will provide some solace for those Texans and other music fest lovers who won’t be able to make the trek to the Windy City.
You can find more info on the full lineup by clicking here to go to the ACL official website. The festival runs the weekends of October 4th-6th and 11th-13th in Austin’s Zilker Park. Both weekends will feature identical lineups.
This is one of Austin City Limit’s best lineups in years and expect tickets to sell out lightning fast today at 10:00 am.
