Suede 'Bloodsports' review

Suede Announce New 2015 Album ‘Night Thoughts’

Suede Announce New Album ‘Night Thoughts’: band follow-up 2013’s excellent ‘Bloodsports’ with an album featuring a full string section, and an accompanying full-length feature film.

Brit-pop pioneers Suede (or The London Suede for those of us across the pond) are set to release ‘Night Thoughts‘, their seventh studio album. It will be released January 22nd, 2015.

The album, produced by longtime producer Ed Buller, will surely excite fans of the group’s opulent sophomore effort ‘Dog Man Star.’ Like most of that grandiose, underrated release, ‘Night Thoughts’ will feature a full string section on each track.

Adding to the projects ambition, will be an accompanying full-length film, directed by NME photographer Roger Sargent. The band will perform alongside the film for two performances on at London’s Roundhouse on Nov 13th and 14th, 2014 .

Sargent elaborated on his creative process behind the film and album:

“Suede and I have crossed paths a few times over the years…I was asked to pitch an idea for this film project…so I tried to write in the least self-conscious way possible. The record deals with a lot of familial themes — life, death, love, anguish and despair; themes that are expanded upon in its visual companion, providing a study of how those elements affect the human psyche.

It resonated with me for many reasons, not least because my mother passed away a few days after I started writing a story for the film. The film starts with a man drowning in the waters of a deserted beach at night, as he fights for life, his mind plays out the events that lead him to be there.”
