Smashing Pumpkins To Make Major Announcement On Monday: SP fan site says to expect big news from Billy Corgan and co. on Monday, March 24th.

According to Alternativenation.net Smashing Pumpkins fans should be on high alert next Monday for a big announcement.
As far as what the announcement is? No clue as of yet but fansite Crestfallen.com had this to say: Some people hate announcements of announcements. Others are yearning for any kind of Smashing Pumpkins news. So some will love this post and others will roll their eyes.
We just got an email that this Monday you can expect a “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT” from the Smashing Pumpkins camp. We aren’t exactly sure what it is, so start making your wild guesses.
So here a few theories about what might be coming up:
- Most likely: Billy Corgan spills the beans about their upcoming deluxe reissue of Adore.
- Somewhat likely: Band announces work on a new album of tour.
- Not likely, but what all hardcore SP fans REALLY want to hear; that some form of the original lineup returns to the fold.
Since Smashing Pumpkins reformed, this has been a sticking point for fans and critics; if a band is just composed of one original member, is it not just a solo act (see also Axl Rose’s current G’n’R)?
It’s no secret the band imploded due to poor relations; and Corgan’s shit-talking about ex-members has put a sour taste in many fans mouths.
But back in August, he heaped praise upon original members James Iha, D’arcy Wretsky and Jimmy Chamberlain in a band interview (click here to check it out).
Obviously given the name of this site, I still can’t quit Billy Corgan, as much as he makes me crazy for being so difficult. Hey, I even think his last album Oceania has merits. So I’ll be staying tuned for Monday’s news and will give you my take.
Personally I am really looking forward to the Adore reissue; he’s done great ones for all the previous albums, so curious for full details.

UPDATED: 3/25/14:Uh…So WTF Billy? Yesterday came and went and still no word on anything new with SP. Kinda strange given that Corgan tweeted that there would be news come Monday. So it’s not like it’s an internet rumor. Perhaps he’s just amping up the suspense, or perhaps he’s just a big old flake. Only time will tell…
