New Order’s ‘Music Complete’ To Feature Iggy Pop and Brandon Flowers

New Order’s ‘Music Complete’ To Feature Iggy Pop and Brandon Flowers: band ready their first studio album since 2005’s ‘When The Sirens’ Call’.

New Order’s upcoming release Music Complete may find them minus founding member and bassist Peter Hook, but they’re bringing in reinforcements to bolster fan morale.

The new album (set for release September 25th on Mute Records) will feature punk rock icon Iggy Pop as well as The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers.

Both artists share an affinity for the post punk dance group: Pop performed Love Will Tear Us Apart and Transmission with New Order at the 2014 Tibet House Benefit. And one can argue the Killers wouldn’t even exist without New Order and Joy Division’s influence (they even nicked their name off the NO video for Crystal).

Besides that details are mum…the group gave a teaser for Music Complete  last month, but it was painfully brief.

Obviously there has been much concern by fans bummed at Peter Hook’s departure (his final contribution being Lost Sirens, the 2013 release featuring outtakes from 2005’s When The Sirens ‘Call).

And while his signature bass playing is undeniably a huge part of the group’s sound, when I saw them sans Hooky in 2012, they sounded (pardon the pun) killer. But making original music is another thing entirely, so put me down in the “hopeful-but please don’t suck” category.

*On a positive note, the last time the group collaborated with guest musicians, they put out two of my latter-day favorite tracks, Turn My Way with The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, and Rock The Shack with Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie.
