New Faith No More Album Set For 2015 Release: Band plot first new release since 1997’s ‘Album of The Year’ and a full U.S. tour for 2015.
Faith No More recently posted a subtle hint on their Twitter page that “in 2015 things are going to change.” And today they made it official; the band will release their first album in 18 years in April of next year.
The as yet untitled album will be released under the band’s own indie label Reclamation Records, and distributed by frontman Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings.
Bassist Billy Gould broke the news in a new Rolling Stone interview, saying the band is currently recording the album in Oakland, California. Gould is also serving as producer. He noted that; I think what we’re doing reflects where we’ve gone since we made our last record as Faith No More. I think this kicks things up a notch. And I think there’s parts that are very powerful and there’s parts that have a lot of “space.” Everything we do, with our chemistry, the way we play; it’s always going to sound like us. It’s just what we do, that makes us feel good. Hopefully it doesn’t sound like a bunch of 50-year-old men… which we are!
Gould also noted how absence made the heart grow fonder for FNM and it’s fans: it’s really interesting for us because it was always a struggle back in the day when we were playing and making music — it felt like we were never really getting it over the net with people. To where, here it is 15 years later, people actually want to hear what we do and the stuff we did actually lasted. And, to me, that’s it — that means we succeeded…and that’s the thing that makes us want to do it again.

The band will release their first single ‘Motherfucker’ on 7 inch vinyl for Record Store Day Black Friday on November 28th, followed by a digital release on December 9th.
This will also include an expanded U.S. tour to coincide with the new album’s release. The band played a handful of U.S. gigs upon their first reunion, but have been more focused on foreign tour markets, such as their summer performance in London’s Hyde Park, and a slot on next year’s Soundwave Festival in Australia.
