Listen to New Depeche Mode Song ‘Where’s The Revolution’

Electronic music pioneers return with first single off forthcoming album Spirit.

Veteran synth pop group Depeche Mode will release their new album Spirit on Columbia Records March 17th.

And the band have just released the first single Where’s the Revolution which you can check out via YouTube below:

It appears the group foresaw the current political troubles we’re experiencing, as Revolution has the most pointed political lyrics (written by Martin Gore) in their career, with lines like “You’ve been kept down. You’ve been pushed ’round. You’ve been lied to. You’ve been fed truths” and “Who’s making your decisions? You or your religion? Your government, your countries? You patriotic junkies.”

The chorus hammers it home even further, with disgust at the nationalism sweeping through Europe and America: “Where’s the revolution?Come on people, you’re letting me down.”

Vocalist Dave Gahan elaborated on the album’s message, saying to Rolling Stone: “I wouldn’t call this a political album, because I don’t listen to music in a political way. But it’s definitely about humanity, and our place in that. If we want things to change, a revolution, we need to talk about it and about caring about what goes on in the world. It doesn’t seem the way things are in London. We seem to be going in another direction, and I think Martin felt like he needed to express that.”

Depeche Mode will be bringing Spirit on the road this May. Click here for tour dates.
