Listen to New Chelsea Wolfe Song ‘Grey Days’: vocalist streams another haunting single off forthcoming album ‘Abyss.’

Chelsea Wolfe has just released Grey Days, her fourth single off her new album Abyss (due out August 7th on Sargent House.)

Like previously released tracks Iron Moon, Carrion Flowers and After The Fall, Grey Days is a hypnotic miasma of gothic mood, metal intensity and haunting balladry.

Wolfe discussed the background behind the new track with Billboard, saying:

“The title came from a conversation with someone I met on the road who had been in prison. He called that time his ‘grey days.’ It’s about something holding you back. In the song, what’s holding you back is represented very internally. It was inspired by the Hayao Miyazaki film, Princess Mononoke, where darkness is represented by an iron ball as a sort of demon that ruins you from the inside out.

I’m drawn to the peace in feeling nothing, but I’m also afraid of feeling nothing. “The song is a battle.”
