Guns N’Roses Original Line Up To Reunite?

Guns N’Roses Original Line Up To Reunite? Rumors abound about a potential G N’R reunion tour featuring the original line-up.

Many said it would never happen, and it still might not be happening, but there is potentially exciting news for G N’R fans; according to the Las Vegas Sun, Axl Rose is considering reuniting the classic Guns N’Roses lineup for a global tour.

The rumor comes from Rose’s run of successful shows from his residency at Las Vegas’s Hard Rock Hotel. According to an insider, he’s been emboldened by the success; “So much so, he’s begun thinking about putting the original group all back together for a global tour. That would be the biggest-selling rock tour of all tours.”

Hotel executive Don Marrandino expanded on the rumor saying, “They are definitely thinking of returning for another mini-run at the Hard Rock. We’ve already had conversations about converting one of the restaurant venues into a Guns N’ Roses hangout with its own barbecue and hamburger lineup.”

So that parts a little sad, but nothing takes the fangs out of dangerous rock and rollers than aging. But the prospect of seeing the original lineup playing, say ‘Appetite For Destruction’ from start to finish (because really, who cares about anything else?) is an exciting proposition.

Axl has recently had original bassist Duff McKagan playing with the new lineup, and G N’R’s  former manager thinks he could be the linchpin for a full blown reunion, telling ABC News Radio; “Duff is paving the way to open the gates again. Axl and Duff are really getting along well at the concerts, so there’s an opening.”

But the biggest stumbling block lies with the rift between Rose and Slash, and the guitarist has been cool on the idea of a reunion happening, even if he deems it unlikely.

So yes, a reunion Guns N’Roses tour would likely be one of the best selling tours in recent memory, but it also begs the question; would it be any good? Would Rose pull his old stunts, showing up late, having temper tantrums and hastening yet another breakup?

And a modern Guns N’Roses also comes with other issues; his voice isn’t what it used to be, especially judged by his recent pitch-challenged set at Revolver’s Golden God Awards. But what that set really showed is how bad Rose needs his former bandmates.

The current lineup’s constant showboating and lack of interplay is as far removed from the scuzzy rumble of their 80’s heyday as you could get. It remains an Axl Rose solo project, despite his claim to the name.

So, are you excited by the idea of the original Guns N’Roses lineup reuniting? Do you think this is just another rumor that will never come to fruition? Tell us in the comments.
