Depeche Mode Announce New Album ‘Spirit,’ 2017 Tour

Depeche Mode Announce New Album ‘Spirit,’ 2017 Tour: band give details on follow-up to 2013’s Delta Machine

Electronic music pioneers Depeche Mode will release their 14th studio album, entitled Spirit, in spring of 2016. As expected, the group will be touring to support the album, with the first leg taking place in Europe, kicking off next May in Stockholm, Sweden (a North American tour will follow: dates TBD).

Vocalist Dave Gahan gave details on the new release to Rolling Stone saying:”We’re working on the album with a new team: it’s produced by James Ford [of Simian Mobile Disco], and he’s helped us to make what we feel is a very incredible sounding record. He was able to really guide us.”

Proceeds from the tour will go towards charity: water, of which primary songwriter Martin Gore noted: “If you don’t know charity:water, you should. They’re an amazing organization whose goal is to bring clean, safe drinking water to everybody on the planet. On the last tour, with our fans’ help, we were able to raise over $1.4 million for charity:water. Those funds specifically brought clean water to people in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda.”

In addition to the new album and tour, the band will also be releasing Video Singles Collection on November 11th, 2016. The DVD compiles all the band’s videos from 1981-2013, including a host of extras and commentary tracks.
